Emaar Malls was established in 2005 as a subsidiary of [[Emaar Properties]] in Dubai, [[United Arab Emirates (UAE)]]. It was founded under the leadership of Mohamed Alabbar (as part of the Emaar Properties group). The company was initially listed separately on the [[Dubai Financial Market (DFM)]] in 2014 through an IPO, but in 2021, it merged back with its parent company Emaar Properties in a $2.3 billion deal to become Emaar Properties' wholly-owned subsidiary. Before the merger, major shareholders included Emaar Properties (which maintained majority ownership), along with various institutional and retail investors through its public listing. The company is known for operating major retail assets including The Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, and other shopping centers in the UAE.
